CATS IN HISTORY SERIES

Napoleon, along with Mussolini, Julius Caesar and Hitler had tyranny and thirst for world domination in common. All are reputed to have been Ailurophobes – fear of cats – terror struck by pussycats.

In this series of four we see how the cat has influenced the lives of these powerful men.

NAPOLEON, seen here having mistakenly placed the cat on his head instead of his hat, tucks his hand into his waistcoat to hide the cat’s scratches. The cat is Josephine’s of course.

JULIUS CAESAR’S wife, Calpurnia, had a cat called Brutus. The final blow on the Ides of March, a wicked scratch to the famous conk, was struck by Brutus!

HITLER’S famous salute derived from the time Eva Braun’s cat scratched the palm of his hand.

The cat belonging to one of MUSSOLINI’S many mistresses scratched him on the chin thus creating the famous jutting chin pose.
